Under 8 Colts Season 2004-5 Reports 12 February East Kent Youth League The colts rounded off their first season in the East Kent Youth League with a fine 2-2 draw against Trinity Colts. Within 10 seconds of the match starting Kennington were caught napping as Trinity`s striker raced through on goal, and despite Goal keeper Benny Hoffman managing to get a hand to it, he could not keep it out. As the half progressed though, cheered on by their enthuastic parents, Kennington began to start to get back into the match. Powerful forward running from Declan Burden started to pay dividends, with some good balls through to Captain Joseph Burden. It was from one such movement that led to the equalizer. A great ball from Declan Burden found Joseph Burden who was brought down. Up stepped George Fender who gleefully smashed home the resultant freekick. The second half began as the first did. Kennington again started slowly which resulted in some early pressure from Trinity. Solid defending from Danny Curry and George Fender saw Kennington through this tricky period. Kennington again started to take control and the strong running up front from Joseph Burden was beginning to tell. Twice he was clean through, once stopped by a great save and once by the cross bar. Just as kennington were pressing for victory, Trinity scored a surpurb goal from a full twenty yards to snatch the lead. Kennington to the credit showed true bouncebackability and a great pass from Liam Bowman sent Joseph Burden away again only for him to be brought down for a penalty. Up stepped George Fender who smashed home the resultant penalty to send everyone home happy. - end - |
