Tenterden Tigers 3 v Kennington Girls 8

The girls started the new season away to Tenterden Tigers playing on a reasonable surface. The girls received a shock wake up call early on in the game, when a very much improved Tenterden team netted the first goal putting us behind.

Tenterden continued to apply the pressure and netted another, the girls still in shock then decided to play football. Rachel provided an excellent pass to Laura who showed her determination to score, netting our first quality goal, Kennington went on to level the match 2-2 only to let Tenterden back in the game with a good long ball from their keeper being netted by a strong forward. Kennington replied promptly with Charlie demonstrating some fantastic football attacking three of her opponents supplying the cross of the match to be netted, levelling the match minuets before half time at 3-3.

Kennington came out a different side for the second half and battled well, with a solid performance by Jenny who hit the crossbar after winning the ball and a near miss by Ella whose positioning was near perfect for the complete second half. Vicky Cox assisted and linked play with keeper Lucy who once again showed no fear of coming to collect the ball under pressure. With 20 minutes to go Kennington upped the pace and played some great football with Rebecca and Charlie dominating the midfield along with Captain Victoria & Stacey on the left reading the game well, linking play with forwards Vicky Barker who also scored a great goal and Laura who scored another two, one from a well deserved penalty demonstrating calmness & composure when netting the ball from the spot. Rebecca went on to score again with Stacey scoring the goal of the match.

With 10 minutes to go Tenterden got their second wind attacking well only to come across Cathy at the back that was having none of it, sending the ball well up field several times in the last 10 minuets of the game with Vicky Cox and Rachel covering the back well.
