Season 2005-06 Reports Under 11 Juniors Sunday 27th November 2005 Kennington maintained their top of the league status with a resounding victory over a hardworking Ramsgate side for whom the keeper was outstanding. Goals from Dion Orris (3) Jordan Mayhew (2) Jack Balsden ( 2) Ross Blandford Will Elgar and Antonio Comparetto complted the rout. The defence was sound throughout only being breached by a thumping 30 yard drive from Ramsgates best player. Perry, Ben, Conal,Tom, Ryan and Charlie did well not to freeze to death in the second half. Tom B continued to perform well early in his Kennington career and Elliott Padge strolle elegantly around passing well. Good performance which needs repeating next week 13th November Well the hair gets greyer and the finger nails get shorter but the boys ground out another somewhat unconvincing win mixing moments of sheer class with some of complete stupidity. First of all Herne Bay are a good side, they play football and are a similar team to us. Kennington took a two goal lead through Ross Blandford following a super run and cross from Dion Orris, soon after Ross chased well and muscled the defender off the ball and finished with great confidence past a bemused Herne bay keeper. Two goals from the Bay levelled and both were due to poor defending. However just as we thought the game would end in a draw ( which to be fair would have been the right result) up popped Jordan Mayhew to blast home from just outside the box, a super strike. Bay attacked again and only an excellent save from Perry Drew prevented another equaliser. In patches as ever we played super stuff but the boys who looked most tired at the end were those who had played another tough game for the Ashford and District side the previous day. We shall wait and see how much the District side affects the league challenge but some of us wonder whether the boys can and indeed should play two games in two days at their age. Parker Steel Cup They say that good teams win when they dont play at their best. Well this was certainly the case but all credit to Margate from Division 2 who fought and tackled hard but fair all the way through the game. They will surely be a force to be reckoned with if they get promoted. Kennington, whilst not at their best kept their coll to win on penalties.Perry did well in goal to put the Margate strikers under pressure. The game lacked real chances.Kennington were unlucky to have an Elliott Padgham goal disallowed for off side but all in all a hard fought tussle which we were very glad to win. On to the next round. Sunday 30th October The lads got back to winning ways after last weeks blip. The first thirty minutes saw some lovely football ( probably the best of the season so far). With only a minute gone Ross Blandford cleverly lobbed the keeper to give us the lead. Soon after he doubled his tally slotting home a mishit shot which completely fooled the keeper!! Still they all count!! The boys then took a three nil lead with the goal of the day. Some lovely interchanges down the right hand side involving messrs Kennett and Padgham culminated in Dion tapping home. We should have scored three or four more but just before half time the ref awarded a strange penalty to Faversham and the score at half time was 3-1. The second half was a bit of a damp squib, the only highlight being the referee awarding another strange penalty to us this time. The Faversham keeper who was top class all afternoon made a superb save but only Kennington players were following up and Tom 2 scored his debut goal for the side. A further penalty followed following a superb run by Jordan Mayhew who was unceremoniously upended in the box. This time there was no doubt but again the keeper made an excellent save from Jordans well struck penalty Team Perry Ryan Conal Tom 1 Charlie Elliott Jordan Antonio Jack Ross Dion Will Tom 2 Ben Sunday 16th October The first ever league victory was gained over arch rivals Ashford Borough. A slightly surreal atmosphere at the game with both sets of boys knowing each other so well.Watching district manager must realise what a talented squad he has. The first half was reasonably close with both sides cancelling each other out, Kennington playing the better football but Borough looking more likely to score. Dion opened the scoring with a well taken goal following a neat passing movement. Second half was again close, the sun really affecting the Borough defenders. A short corner from Will was played back by Jordan and the ball was lofted by Will over the keeper into the net. Shot or cross.........well never know...who cares.! An injury to goalie Pel meant that Dion had to end the game in goal.. A superb goal from Borough made the last five minutes a bit frantic but the result was just right. The boys are showing steel this year to go with their undoubted footballing ability.Well done everyone. Team Perry Ryan Ben Tom Charlie Jack Jordan Will Antonio Dion Elliott Conal and welcome Tom 2. 9 October 2005 Sunny day enormous bumpy pitch, all the recipes for a giant killing. As it turned out this was a more than comfortable performance againsy a hardworking Betteshanger side. Dion scored all the goals but there was some superb passing all round with both Will Elgar and Ryan Kennett performing well ob the right hand side. Connell slotted well into the central midfield role vactaed by temperature ridden Antonio. After his goal scoring exploits in the trinity game Ross also slotted well into midfield. The defence was sound with Tom and Charlie having a reasonably quiet and comfortable afternoon. Perry in goal was rarely troubled. Elliott was also unlucky to have a goal cancelled out through offside. On the left Ben and Jordan combined well when required but it seemed today that the right hand side was favoured. Well done all 2 October 2005 A strange afternoon at Kennington where an unfortunate injury to the goalkeeper in the previous game and the late arrival of one of the Whitstable teams meant this game didn't kick off till very late. Kennington took the lead through a Charlie Draper goal. Not a classic but Charlie was in the right place at the right time!! Whitstable belied their bottom of the table status with an uncompromising display and they will surely rise up the table if they keep this effort up. Kennington gained a two goal advantage through Ross Blandford who had been the particular focus of some heavy tackles. He kept calm and slotted home. The last 10 minutes were made chaotic as Whitstable sneaked one back then laid siege to the Kennington goal. Keeper Perry went from sublime to ridiculous dropping the ball badly in front of the Whitstable attacker then making a superb save to get it back. Panic set in a bit at the end but the kennington hung on just despite a late controversial incident which was sorted well by both managers at the end. Credit to all again for a battling display. 26 September 2005 The unbeaten start to the season continued with a depleted and some kids battling bravely against injury.Trinity took a fortunate two goal lead but then the Kennington lads moved into second gear and the equalising two goals game quite swiftly. Ross Blandford scored a hatrick and took his goals superbly but im sure he will agree that the passing of his team mates was first class. The defence was sound with Charle probably having his best game ever. A further two goals from Antonio completed the set and so now we have three goal machines. At this level on 11 a side its as much about hard work as it is about good football and yesterday Kennington showed both. This will have to be maintained with some tough matches coming up. Team Perry, Connell,Tom, Charlie,Ben,Mr Kennett, Will,Jack,Jordan,Antonio, Ross,Elliott 18th September 2005 This was the very first competitive 11 a side game for the lads and they adapted well. First goal of the season was scored by Goal machine Dion Orris. Further 2 goals from Antonio Comparetto and an own goal secured the victory by 4 goals to 3. Both sides played some attractive football and very sporting sets of parents made the game very enjoyable. Unfortunate injuries are already plaguing the squad for th2 2005/2006 season. Picture of the new squad will follow when we can get them all out of the hospital wards!! - end - |
